TM Evolution returns to the Ligier European Series with a pair of Ligier JS2 Rs

March 16th, 2022

After participating in the inaugural season in 2020, TM Evolution returns to the European series with two Ligier JS2 R cars, the #11 driven by Alain Grand and the #25 with Bruno Chaudet and Freddy Menanteau behind the wheel.

Since its creation in 2012, Bruno Chaudet’s French team has enjoyed great success, winning the French Legends Cars Cup title in 2016, then finishing runner-up in the French Mitjet Championship in 2017 and another crown, this time, in the T6 class of the French TTE Championship in 2019. In 2020, the team was ready for a new challenge with a two-car Ligier JS2 R entry in the Ligier European Series with the driver tandem of Alain Grand and Bruno Chaudet.

While TM Evolution did not compete in the series in 2021, the team raced in the Trophée Tourisme Endurance with the #25 Ligier JS2 R and won the T6 category title with Bruno Chaudet and Freddy Menanteau at the commands. For sure, the experience the team gained will be an asset upon its return to the European series.

“Our objective is to offer an unforgettable experience to the drivers who put their trust in us and to help them improve with all our staff,” comments Bruno Chaudet, Team Owner and Team Manager of TM Evolution. “The Ligier European Series allows us to provide them with all this. As a bonus, we get great media exposure.”

Behind the wheel of the #11 will be an experienced and enthusiastic driver, Alain Grand, who got his start in rallying on asphalt, gravel and snow. He moved onto the Legends Cars Cup in 2004. He won the French title in 2009, finished runner-up in the 2012 Euronascar in the Open class and second in the French Mitjet Supertourism Championship in 2015 and 2016 before switching to GT4.

“I am delighted to return to the Ligier European Series,” says Alain Grand. “Of course, my goal is to do better than in my first season in 2020. I also want to continue to support young drivers; who have just come out of karting, for example, and who want to become professional race car drivers. In my opinion, the Ligier European Series is the ideal competition for young drivers to get their foot in the door. I will share my seat at Monza with Paul Jouffreau, whom I drove with last year and who will be competing in Euronascar this year with Lucas Lasserre’s team. With nearly 50 years spent on the circuits, I also enjoy passing on my passion and experience.”

In the #25 car, Bruno Chaudet will alternate between his roles of Team Owner, Team Manager and driver. He will team with Freddy Menanteau. “I look forward to meeting up with my teammate and racing on some of the finest circuits in Europe,” says Bruno Chaudet. “With the bonus of a race meeting on the 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit! It’s a great challenge. The competition level is very high. You learn faster when you are among the best”.

“I am very thrilled to begin this new adventure with Bruno and the entire TM Evolution team,” says Freddy Menanteau. “After a little more than five seasons in sport-prototype, I discovered TM Evolution and the Ligier JS2 R last year in the TTE championship. I wanted to experience a new championship and new circuits this season. The Ligier European Series programme is incredible. It’s a great opportunity to improve and race on the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit.”

The team is prepared to welcome new drivers to introduce them to the Ligier JS2 R and the series during the season. For round three, which will take place at the Le Mans 24 Hours circuit in June 2022, TM evolution will field a third Ligier JS2 R.
