Le Castellet Heat, Free practice 1: Team Virage and Pegasus Racing on top

Sunny skies greeted the 20 entries in the first 40-minute free practice session for Heat 2 of the 2024 Ligier European Series season at Circuit Paul Ricard.

The session was interrupted by two Full Course Yellows following a spin of the #50 of Les Deux Arbres and the #86 (Les Deux Arbres) that was then stopped on track.  

In the JS P4 category, Barcelona winners Theo Micouris and Haydn Chance in the #1 Team Virage car led the way with a lap of 2:00.693s. Romain Favre in the #7 Inter Europol Competition JS P4 was next at 2:01.124s, while the #71 Monza Garage (James Winslow/ Chun-Ting Chou) was third.

In the PRO-AM category, Team Virage’s #32, driven by Umberto d’Amato and Paschalis Paris Stavrakidis, set the best lap.

The #18 Pegasus Racing car driven by Louis Stern and Paul Lanchère dominated the JS2 R category with a lap of 2:08.273s. The French duo also led the AM category. The #69 JS2 R of M Racing, and newcomers Tomas Granzella and Gianfranco Barbara, was second at 2:08.372s. Clément Moreno in the #31 ANS Motorsport car was third.

The Pegasus Racing #29 (Julien Schell, David Caussanel) led the PRO-AM class with a lap of 2:09.672s.

The second free practice session will be from 2:05 to 2:45 pm this afternoon. The two 15-minute qualifying sessions will occur this afternoon at 5:15 and 5:35 pm.
