The 32 Ligier JS2 Rs and Ligier JS P4s kicked off Test Day on Sunday, June 9, at 8 am on the 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit. In the hotly contested 45-minute session, the #7 Inter Europol Competition Ligier JS P4 put in the fastest lap in the sport-prototype category. Natan Bihel, winner of the 2023 Le Mans Heat, set the benchmark time in the Ligier JS2 R category behind the wheel of the #69 of M Racing.
In the first on-track action of Test Day, the 32 cars entered and battled on the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit. The fastest times in both categories came in the last five minutes.
In the JS P4 category, Romain Favre, winner of Race 1 of the Le Castellet Heat, set the fastest time in the category in 4m09.082s in the #7 from Inter Europol Competition. He stole the thunder from the #66 of Team Virage by just a few thousandths of a second. Colombians Jeronimo Berrio and Pedro Moreno finished the session second in 4m09.889s. Iko Segret and ANS Motorsport (#3 JS P4), which led for part of the session, wound up third best in 4m10.171s.
In the PRO-AM class, Michael Doppelmayr, in the #81 LR Motorsport entry, set the pace in 4m15.701s. In AM, Yuki Tanaka, in the #16 of Pegasus Racing, led the way with a best time of 4:18.996.
In the JS2 R category, Natan Bihel, winner of the 2023 Le Mans Heat and back in the Ligier European Series with M Racing at the commands of the #69, showed right away that he has every intention of adding a second Le Mans victory to his record sheet. He finished the session with a best time of 4m22.456s, more than a second quicker than Ligier European Series newcomer Clément Loheul in the #90 LADC JS2 R (4m23.849s).
Clément Moreno, in the #31 ANS Motorsport JS2 R, was third quickest and first in AM (4m24.981s).
The #29 Pegasus Racing of David Caussanel and Julien Schell set the fastest time in the PRO-AM class at 4m31.331s.
