The second free practice session of the Portimão Heat allowed the 19 entries to fine-tune their set-up on this 4.653km circuit renowned for its elevation changes. At the end of the 40-minute session, Team Virage and Iron Lynx by LRMotorsport dominated the competition.
The session was incident-free in the dry conditions, and all the competitors used the 40 minutes to fine-tune their cars before qualifying later in the afternoon.
The #32 Team Virage Ligier JS P4 topped the timing screens again after dominating FP1. Mikkel Gaarde Pedersen set a lap of 1m47.014s, improving his morning time and displaying excellent pace on his Ligier European Series debut. Like this morning, Iko Segret finished runner-up with a lap of 1m47.548s in the #6 from ANS Motorsport. Lastly, the #77 RLR MSport JS P4, driven by Ian Aguilera, completed the top three with a time of 1m47.758s. Championship leaders Team Virage were fourth, with the #1 driven by Theo Micouris and Haydn Chance.
Pegasus Racing’s #16 JS P4 (Yuki Tanaka/ Tadao Uemastu) led Jacques Nicolet’s #58 (M Racing) in the AM class.
In the JS2 R category, Matteo Pianezzola, in the #60 of Iron Lynx by LRMotorsport, set the pace with a lap of 1m53.240s. In the #58 of Iron Dames by M Racing, Marta Garcia was second fastest at 1m53.061s. She was followed by August Therbo, in the #86 of Les Deux Arbres.
In the Pegasus Racing’s #18, Louis Stern topped the AM class with a lap of 1m56.157s. Julien Schell and David Caussanel lead the PRO-AM classification in the #29 JS2 R.
The day will end with two qualifying sessions, the first at 5 pm and the second at 5:20 pm (local time), to determine the pole position for the season’s final two races tomorrow. You can follow both sessions on the series’ social networks.
