2022 Calendar: The Hungaroring to be replaced by Monza for the fourth round of championship

Press Release – February 28, 2022

Updated calendar for the 2022 Ligier European Series. Initially scheduled to take place at the Hungaroring circuit in Hungary on July 1 and 2, 2022, the fourth round of the European single-make championship will instead be held at the Monza Autodrome in Italy, on the same date.

Due to local regulations and restrictions in Hungaria, the fourth round of the Ligier European Series will take place at Monza in Italy. The date of July 1 and 2 remains unchanged. For the third time since the beginning of the championship in 2020, the Ligier JS P4s and the Ligier JS2 Rs will return to compete at the Temple of Speed.

Frédéric Lequien, CEO of Le Mans Endurance Management: “It is with regret that the ELMS will not be able to visit Hungary in July but due to local regulations and restrictions the management at the Hungaroring were unable to fulfil the conditions of the contract.”

“With its history and long flowing circuit, Monza has been a firm favourite with most members of ELMS paddock, and it has provided some great racing since the series returned in 2017. I would like to thank the team at Monza for their assistance and enabling the ELMS to hold round 3 of the 2022 season this summer.”
