Mugello Heat, Free Practice 1: Team Virage and Iron Lynx by LRMotorsport lead the way.

The Mugello Heat, the penultimate round of the 2024 Ligier European Series, is underway. The 20 entries took to the Mugello track for the very first time Friday morning for the opening free practice session of the weekend.

The forty-minute session was interrupted by a Full Course Yellow after Iko Segret’s #6 JS P4 (ANS Motorsport) went off the track at Turn 3. Then, with 11 minutes remaining in the session, the #66 Team Virage, driven by Jeronimo Berrio and the #3 Smart Driving car with Alin Fulga aboard, ended up in the gravel trap, resulting in the session being red-flagged. The session quickly resumed for four minutes.

At the close of Free Practice One, the championship leaders, the #1 Team Virage JS P4, with Great Britain’s Theo Micouris, set the pace with a best lap of 1m52.115s. Just behind, Italy’s Jacopo Mazza, who has returned to the series in the #81 from LR Motorsport, was second with a time of 1m53.045s. In the #66 of Team Virage, Colombia’s Pedro Moreno completed the top three with a time of 1m53.603s.

Jacques Nicolet, driving the #58 M Racing JS P4, was first in the AM category.

In the JS2 R category, the Iron Lynx by LRMotorsport #60 took the top spot, with Matteo Pianezzola posting a lap of 2m02.214s. The Les Deux Arbres team was second with the #50 JS2 R driven by Frenchman Antoine Lepesqueux (2m02.693). Julien Schell, in the #29 from Pegasus Racing, finished the session third with a time of 2m02.819s. The Frenchman also finished first in the PRO/AM category.

The #31 ANS Motorsport JS2 R and French driver Clément Moreno dominated the AM classification with a time of 2m02.977s.

Free Practice Two will be held this afternoon from 1:50 to 2:30 pm. The two 15-minute qualifying sessions will follow at 5 and 5:20 pm, and you can follow them on the series’ social networks.
