The battle for the top spots on the grid was intense on Sunday morning at Le Mans. During the 20-minute qualifying session, drivers in the JS P4 and JS2 R categories gave their all on the legendary 24-hour circuit. A red flag five minutes before the end, caused by the #83 Trajectus Motorsport car leaving the track, cut the session short.
JS P4: Pole position for Matteo Pianezzola and Iron Lynx by MRacing
The #60 Iron Lynx by MRacing Ligier JS P4, driven by Matteo Pianezzola, was fastest in qualifying to secure its first JS P4 pole position of the season with a time of 4m08.946s. He will start ahead of Romain Boeckler (Ligier JS P4 #22 Loire Valley Racing), who posted the second fastest time of 4m09.691s, followed by Maxwell Dodds (#6 ANS Motorsport) in third with 4m09.814s.
In the PRO/AM category, Julien Schell (#29 Pegasus Racing) set the pace with a time of 4m13.289s, whilst David Caussanel (#16 Pegasus Racing) led the AM class with a lap of 4m13.287s.
Matteo Pianezzola, Iron Lynx by MRacing, #60 Ligier JS P4, Pole position:

“It was prefect. The balance of the car was good. We did two days of testing at Magny-Cours with Yvan [Muller] and Yann [Ehrlacher]. I’m shaking because taking pole position at the 24 Hours of Le Mans track is impressive. The job is not done yet. We have to wait for the race. Let’s hope for a win in the race.”
JS2 R: VSF Sports locks out the front row

In JS2 R, Lukas Papin put the #18 VSF Sports Ligier JS2 R on the pole for the second time this season, with a time of 4m23.389s. His teammate Tristan Clay, driving the #41 car, completed the front row with a lap of 4m26.510s to also take the pole position in the AM class. Ethan Pharamond (#74 Loire Valley Racing) finished third in 4m26.643s with the best time in the PRO/AM category.
Lukas Papin, VSF Sports, #18 Ligier JS2 R, Pole position :

“It’s amazing. I have no words. It’s my first time on the 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit, so taking pole position is just incredible. It wasn’t easy. I didn’t get much running in free practice. I went into qualifying a bit in the dark. I was told to push right from the start. I managed a good first lap. When they told me I had taken pole position with a three-second gap to second place, I couldn’t believe it. I actually put in a better lap than I thought I could. It proves to me that I can adapt. I’m really happy and proud of the team, especially because we secured a one-two finish [with Tristan Clay in the #41].”
The race starts at 2 pm
The starting grid is now set for the 60-minute race, which will start at 2 pm. The conditions look ideal for an intense battle on one of the world’s most legendary circuits.
