The Paul Ricard circuit will host round two of the 2025 Ligier European Series season on 2 and 3 May. The 26 entrants for the season will all be in action at the circuit in France’s Var region, which is a regular fixture on the series’ calendar, for what promises to be another hotly contested weekend.
Ligier JS P4: a competitive field of 15 cars
Following a promising start in the opening round in Barcelona last month, the #6 ANS Motorsport Ligier JS P4, driven by Iko Segret and Maxwell Dodds, leads the championship on 43 points, thanks to a victory in Race 1 and second in Race 2.
The #6 JS P4 is closely followed by the #60 from Iron Lynx by MRacing, driven by Matteo Pianezzola and Gregorio Bertocco, who are in second place after scoring 30 points in Barcelona.
Loire Valley Racing experienced mixed emotions at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with its JS P4 #22 driven by Romain Boeckler. The young driver crossed the finish line first after an good performance but was later demoted to 12th place due to post-race penalties. He bounced back in style by claiming victory in Race 2. It was a promising debut for the 2024 Ligier JS Cup France junior champion, who has set his sights on even better results in the two races at Le Castellet.
Sisters Amna and Hamda Al Qubaisi demonstrated speed and consistency in Spain with Team Virage’s JS P4 #88. Currently fourth in the championship, the podium is undoubtedly the target for the Ligier European Series newcomers.
In the AM category, HP Racing by MRacing’s #58 leads with 43 points, thanks in particular to Jacques Nicolet’s victory in Barcelona. 360 Competition’s #33 JS P4 (Christopher Preen and Kristian Brookes) is atop the PRO-AM category leaderboard.
The 15 JS P4s in the category will compete in two races, with each driver keen to prove themselves and score maximum points to stay in title contention.
Ligier JS2 R: another double victory on the cards for VSF Sports?
The JS2 R category was not to be outdone in Barcelona, with fans treated to thrilling battles. VSF Sports scored a one-two finish in its series debut, with the JS2 R #18 driven by Lukas Papin and Enzo Caldaras and the #41 driven by Florian Teillais and Tristan Clay in Race 1. This impressive performance was repeated in Race 2 with a double podium finish for the #18 and #41, putting the #18 at the top of the category leaderboard.
Victorious in Race 2 at Barcelona, the #57 JS2 R of 23Events Racing, driven by August Therbo, is second in the championship, followed by the #41 JS2 R of VSF Sports, which also leads the AM category.
The #94 of Pegasus Racing, driven by the father-son duo of Jordan and Alain Meyer, leads the PRO-AM category with 50 points.
The Ligier European Series GT category, comprising no fewer than 11 cars, promises to be hotly contested this weekend in the South of France.
The action at Circuit Paul Ricard begins on Friday, 2 May, with free practice at 9 am, followed by two qualifying sessions at 3:40 and 4 pm. The two one-hour Castellet Heat races will be run on Saturday, 3 May, at 9 am and 1:05 pm and will be streamed live on the series’ YouTube channel and Facebook page.
